A few days late for Fathers Day, but here's my brother's Fathers Day Tribute which I've stolen (with his permission) from his Facebook Page. Dang-he's a pretty good writer!

"So yesterday after work, I head to the cleaners at the shopping center near my office on Nash. When I leave, traffic 's so bad after work on Nash I decide to use the other exit to catch the stoplight, but the "new" ABC Store is near that other exit. That store has probably been open for several years, but I've never been in it. Being summer and all, I'm thinking "OK - I got a minute - I'll stop and restock my tequila and rum supply for some 'boat drinks' (Jimmy Buffett's words) and check out the neighborhood ABC store."

So I go in, get my stuff, it's a very nice and new store, and to my amazement, they take debit cards now. Last time I went to the ABC store, it was "cash only". The very nice and extra friendly lady working the register takes the card, notices my name on it (one of the down sides to using a card instead of cash) and says "oh yeah, you work right down the street". Me (sort of wanting to get my transaction done and move on): "YEP". And then she continues "I remember your dad! He was one of our favorite customers and he use to come in ALL THE TIME and was the nicest gentleman!" I wasn't EXACTLY sure how to respond to the fact that they knew my dad and that he was one of their favorite customers, and that he came in all the time - - but blurted out a quick "thanks, he would appreciate that", took my stuff, and headed home....

So Dad - Happy Father's Day - you are gone, but not forgotten in some of your favorite old places around this town!

Oh - and the lady from register #2 at the ABC store says "hello"!"
